November Fourth will be forever etched into the brain
Of every working man and hockey mama,
When nearly half the citizens were voting for McCain,
And all the world was rooting for Obama.

“Nearly half” does not an election win in the US. Then again Bush lost the popular vote in 2000 and we still had to stare at him for 8 years :)

As we revel in the election
there is still a sense of dread
of the hard work and sacrifices
that are on the road ahead.
    It’s not an easy task
(no banging your head against a wall)
but with patience and an open mind
America can achieve prosperity for all.
